Finally got it in! Been looking for one I could afford for a while, so when this popped up on eBay for $800 I jumped on it:
It’ll be accompanying my DOHC 2.6L Pontiac Super Duty 4cyl:
And going in this:
One step closer!

A quick google to figure out what exactly a Pontiac super duty is revealed your build thread:
race motor in a street car? I can dig it. (also explains the beefy expensive clutch for a GM I4)

I never replace a clutch in anything. Lets just say I’m surprised with just how small it actually is. I always thought it would be bigger than that even in a 4 cyl.

So, what exotic will it be? Countach? 458? McLaren f1?

I have been told that small diameter clutches are not well suited for street use. Can you explain your choice for your car?

Awww that thing is tiny!! Cool car though, that cylinder head looks killer.
Good luck on the build.

Street use will probably be fairly limited. Cosworth’s build specs suggest a minimum 3000RPM idle speed! I’m hoping with a stronger timing chain and some improvements to the original valve train, I can hit 10,000RPM. But the main goal was reducing the moment of inertia as much as possible, it should be somewhere around 70-80% less than a typical oversquare V8.
Carbon clutches are usually also more easily modulated than the metallic plates as used in NASCAR, and can take WAY more heat, which improves the drivability.

$4000+, usually!

Thanks! It’s a slow build but I’m regaining some momentum on it now. I’ll keep updating on Oppo =)

Wicked project. But 10k rpm with 2.7l inline 4cyl? I has doubts.
